In short
Macosome Cleaner collects no data. It has no account, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising and no tracking, and it never opens a network connection of its own. What it learns about your disk stays on your Mac.
The one exception is a button, Look it up. It opens a web search in your browser, and it only does so when you press it. It is described below.
Who we are
Macosome Cleaner is made by AI BISTRO d.o.o., Cesta v Lipovce 3B, 1358 Log pri Brezovici, Slovenia. For anything about this policy or your data, email apple@ai-bistro.com. We are the controller for the only personal data we handle: email you send us.
What stays on your Mac
The app reads only the folders you grant it. Scan results are held in memory while the app runs and are not saved. The app saves two things, in its own sandboxed storage on your Mac:
- the folders you have granted, as macOS bookmarks, so it can read them again next time. Take access back with the × on a folder's card, and the bookmark is deleted.
- your display preferences: theme, view, colour and size mode, how app bundles are shown, whether the sidebar is open, and whether you have seen the welcome gallery.
Neither ever leaves your Mac. We cannot see them.
"Look it up"
In Insights, an item's details offer Look it up ↗. Pressing it opens your default browser at a Google search for "is it safe to delete" followed by that item's path. Before the path is sent, your account's folder (/Users/name) is replaced by ~. The other folder and file names in the path are included as they appear, and so is the name of an external disk.
The app sends nothing itself: your browser makes the request, as if you had typed the search. From then on Google's privacy policy applies. Nothing is sent unless you press the button, and nothing else is ever sent anywhere.
Buying the app
You buy Macosome Cleaner through the Mac App Store, and Apple handles the purchase under its own privacy policy. We receive sales reports from Apple that do not identify you. If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your Mac's settings, Apple may also give us aggregated, anonymous usage statistics. The app itself adds nothing to them.
Email you send us
If you write to us, we receive your email address and what you write. We use it only to answer you (legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering, GDPR Art. 6(1)(f), or taking steps you asked for, Art. 6(1)(b)). It is stored with our email provider, which processes it on our behalf, and it is not shared with anyone else or used for marketing. We delete support correspondence two years after the conversation ends, unless the law requires us to keep it longer.
This website
These pages use no cookies, no analytics, no scripts and no third-party fonts. Like every website, the server that delivers them keeps short-lived technical logs of requests, including IP addresses, for security and operation. Our hosting provider keeps those logs on our behalf, and we don't use them to identify anyone.
Your rights
You may ask us for access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal data we hold about you, which in practice is only your email. You may also ask us to restrict or object to its processing, or to receive it in a portable form. Write to apple@ai-bistro.com. You can also complain to a data protection authority. Ours is the Information Commissioner of the Republic of Slovenia (Informacijski pooblaščenec).
Children
The app collects nothing from anyone, children included.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. If a new version of the app ever collects data, this page will say so before that version is released.
